Arrangements for Monday 9th September

Our Try-Athlon for all session 3 swimmers takes place on Monday 9th September and as our coaching team will be involved in this event there will be a fun swim for all session 1 & 2 swimmers instead of the regular swim sessions.  The fun swim will start at 6.30pm and finish at 7.30pm.

If you are on the parent rota for this night please ensure you arrive by 6.15pm as we will need your help to register all the swimmers and assist the lifeguards on poolside.

Personal details forms

Please remember to hand in your personal details form at the registration desk.  We need these returned ASAP to ensure we have the correct details on file for each of our members.

If you don’t have yours, please let us know.

Session 3 Try-Athlon at Foxlake

If you are taking part in the Try-Athlon on Monday night, please note that registration opens at 5.30pm for a 6pm start.  You’ll need your swimming kit, clothes to run and cycle in and your bike.  We anticipate a finish time of approximately 8pm.

Please check your inbox for an email with further information and a sign-up form, if you haven’t already completed one.

The event is being held in aid of ‘The Wave Project’ so any donations you collect will be added to the money we’ve already raised through the sponsored swim we held earlier in the year for session 1&2.  Feel free to share the link to our Just Giving page amongst your friends and family to help us reach our overall target of £2500.

Another great night down at the lake.
A wee bit of learning about cold water shock and how to survive if you get into difficulty in the water.

Did you know?
That cold water shock happens in waters 15*c and below
That even in the summer, seas and waters around the UK and Ireland average only 12*c
That it only takes 2 minutes in cold water to drown if you panic
That it only takes half a pint of sea water for an adult to start drowning.

How can you minimise the risk?

If you enter the water unexpectedly:

Take a minute. The initial effects of cold water pass in less than a minute so don’t try to swim straight away.

Relax and float on your back to catch your breath. Try to get hold of something that will help you float.

Keep calm then call for help or swim for safety if you’re able.

We are looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow evening.

Please remember to arrive swim ready and bring your swim cap, goggles, towel and a water bottle.

You will need an adult to sign you in/out and complete paperwork.
