Arrangements for Monday 9th September

Our Try-Athlon for all session 3 swimmers takes place on Monday 9th September and as our coaching team will be involved in this event there will be a fun swim for all session 1 & 2 swimmers instead of the regular swim sessions.  The fun swim will start at 6.30pm and finish at 7.30pm.

If you are on the parent rota for this night please ensure you arrive by 6.15pm as we will need your help to register all the swimmers and assist the lifeguards on poolside.

Personal details forms

Please remember to hand in your personal details form at the registration desk.  We need these returned ASAP to ensure we have the correct details on file for each of our members.

If you don’t have yours, please let us know.

Session 3 Try-Athlon at Foxlake

If you are taking part in the Try-Athlon on Monday night, please note that registration opens at 5.30pm for a 6pm start.  You’ll need your swimming kit, clothes to run and cycle in and your bike.  We anticipate a finish time of approximately 8pm.

Please check your inbox for an email with further information and a sign-up form, if you haven’t already completed one.

The event is being held in aid of ‘The Wave Project’ so any donations you collect will be added to the money we’ve already raised through the sponsored swim we held earlier in the year for session 1&2.  Feel free to share the link to our Just Giving page amongst your friends and family to help us reach our overall target of £2500.

It’s #volunteersweek and I couldn’t let it pass without saying a BIG THANK YOU to all our volunteers!

Did you know.......... everyone involved in running the club is a volunteer.

It takes 6 coaches, 3 lifeguards, 4 poolside helpers, 3 parent helpers, 2 junior coaches and 1 DOE to run each session.

Behind the scenes making sure it all runs smoothly is a committee of 10 people.

We collectively give 2,500 volunteers hours per year, not including back office stuff like writing session plans, planning and running events, dealing with emails, finances, risk assessments and shopping.

Wow.... I think this is fantastic and would like to say Thank You to every volunteer who makes our wee club a great place for the young people of Dunbar to have fun, improve their swim skills and make friends.

Is this Cara Simpson?

Which Calum?

Hope you're all safe and well. We're missing seeing you at swim club and we hope it won't be too long before we can get back together again. In the meantime, we've got a challenge for you...

Let's see how many passes of the Dunbar Dolphins swim cap we can achieve as a club - with 124 of you out there we'd like to get as many of you involved as possible! There's a sunny weekend ahead which means plenty of opportunity to get outdoors and pass your swim cap in inventive ways.

We’ve attached a wee demo video to give you an idea of what we're looking for.

Please ensure you catch your cap from the left of your shot and throw it out to the right of your shot.

Suggestions for what to do when you catch your cap include swimming your favourite stroke, showing us a new lockdown skill you've learnt or just passing the cap around your family. We're sure you'll have many more creative and wonderful ideas!

Once you've captured your video send it to coach Sharon either via the Dunbar Dolphins Facebook page (@Dunbardolphinsnewshub),
by email (sharon.humble@btinternet.com)
or via Whatsapp (07891 020253).

Get your videos in by Monday 8th June to appear in the all-club video.

Let's see what you can do!

Best wishes from the Dunbar Dolphins
