We held our very first inter-club gala with North Berwick and Gullane swimming clubs on 23rd March.

Each club put forward 12 swimmers to take part in a mixture of traditional swimming events followed by a series of fun races.

There was a great atmosphere at the pool and it was superb to see swimmers and parents from all three clubs mingling with each other. All swimmers were awarded a participation medal and the trophy was handed to Gullane who gained the most points on the night.

Everyone thought the event was a huge success and would like to see it repeated next year. Thanks go to the coaching team for organising the event and to the swimmers that took part – you did your club proud 🙂

Well done to all our Session 3 Seniors who completed the ‘Aquathon’ event last Thursday night. This involved a 5k run followed by a 1 mile swim (equivalent to 64 lengths). The help we had from parents and local businesses ensured the event was a brilliant success. Thanks to those parents who ran with the kids, helped out as race marshals and counted the lengths swam in the pool. Thanks also to Foxlake for their inflatable arch to mark the start and finish point and also to Dave at Saddlers for donating the medals for the event. Thanks also go to Clare Falconer and Pippa Johnston for organising the finisher bags for all participants. We were delighted that Macy Robertson and her mum, Nicky, were able to come along to present the participants with their medals and certificates. Finally, our thanks go to all the coaches who did a superb job of organising the event and particularly to our Head Coach, Sharon Humble, whose idea it was to stage DASC’s very first ‘Aquathon’.

Each year we have a sponsored swim where half of the funds raised go towards club funds and half goes to charity. This year we’ve been inspired by Macy Robertson’s story. Macy lives in Dunbar and needs to raise £150,000 to fund an urgent operation to her spine. In the spirit of supporting those in our local community we feel Macy’s fund is a good cause to raise money for in this year’s sponsored swim.

This year’s swim will take place on 6th & 9th February and if you’re free on either night to help with counting the number of lengths swam please come along to the pool at 6.15pm.

Letters are being handed out to swimmers this week that explain how the event runs.

We’re planning a separate challenge for our Session 3 Seniors. Once the details of this have been confirmed we’ll send out more information about it.

Swim club resumes for all our swimmers from Monday 16th January.  Look forward to seeing you then!
